Customize automated request titles and messages

Each request automation can create a personalized title and message for every selected client. Open Customize request wording while creating or editing an automation to set either field.

Default wording

You can leave the custom title or message blank. CrankHQ first uses the default subject or message from the selected request template. If the template does not provide one, CrankHQ creates standard wording for the requested period.

Available placeholders

Use these placeholders in the request title, the message, or both:

• {client} — The client name.
• {period} — The complete requested period, such as July 2026, Q2 2026, or 2025.
• {month} — The month name associated with the requested period, such as July.
• {year} — The four-digit year associated with the requested period, such as 2026.

Placeholders are replaced when CrankHQ creates each client request. Use the exact lowercase spelling, including the single pair of braces.

Example

Assume an automation runs in August 2026, requests the previous month, and includes a client named Atlas Fitness Group.

Title:

{period} close documents for {client}

Created request title:

July 2026 close documents for Atlas Fitness Group

Message:

Please upload your {month} records for {year}.

Created request message:

Please upload your July records for 2026.

How the requested period is chosen

When Request the previous period is selected, placeholders describe the preceding month, quarter, or year. When it is not selected, they describe the period containing the scheduled run date.

For quarterly and yearly automations, {period} is usually clearer than {month} because it produces the complete quarter or year label.

Before sending automatically

Use Let me review it first while testing new wording. Open the generated draft in All requests and confirm the title and message before changing the automation to Send it automatically.
